B.A. in Computer Science and Earth and Planetary Sciences from Johns Hopkins University. I have worked on projects from algal biomineralization to Paleozoic palynology to Paleoproterozic mineralogy and geochemistry. My thesis research applies fluid dynamics models to fossil plants to quantify their paleoecophysiological function. I am particularly interested in the functional consequences of the evolution of large leaves and unusual vascular systems.
