Jon is a Geobiology graduate student in the department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences MIT. Jon has a BA in microbiology from Miami University (Ohio) and an MS in biochemistry from Ohio State.
He is interested to understanding the geologically relevant biochemistry that shaped Earth’s surface environment. He is currently exploring 1) the regulation of sterol biosynthesis by yeast as a means for interpreting oxygenation events during the neoproterozoic and 2) the functional relationship between carbon metabolism and sulfur isotope fractionation in sulfate reducing bacteria.
