Francis Macdonald is an Assistant Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Harvard University. He is a geologist who integrates geological mapping, stratigraphy, geochemistry, geochronology and paleontology to reconstruct Earth history. Current projects focus on Neoproterozoic successions and the relationship between low-latitude glaciation, eukaryotic diversification and perturbations to the carbon cycle.
Efforts within the NAI-ACL team include providing geological context to geochemical, micropaleontological, and biomarker samples.
Francis was awarded his BS from Caltech in 2001 and a PhD from Harvard University in 2009.
